Descriptive names versus index numbers
Chinese GB designations describe what is in the alloy. H62 is brass at 62% copper; B30 is cupronickel at 30% nickel; QSn6.5-0.1 is tin bronze with 6.5% tin and 0.1% phosphorus.
UNS numbers describe nothing. C26000 places the alloy in the brass block and no more — the digits are an index.
That is why no formula converts between them, and why the ranges rarely match exactly: H62 is 60.5–63.5% Cu, C27400 is 61–64%. Treat every cross-reference here as a way to find the right material to talk about, then confirm the actual requirement against the governing specification.
Aluminium is the easy case: the four-digit numbers (6061, 5052, 7075) are the Aluminum Association system, adopted directly into GB/T 3190. Same number on both sides. The exception is casting alloys — ADC12 is Japanese, A380 is American, and they are close but not the same.
